About Ecstatic Dance:
Ecstatic Dance is about so much more than music, dancing, DJ’s, etc. It is a community of folks that choose to come together in a sacred dance space and freely express themselves. Though Ecstatic Dance may look different in different cities around the world, there are general guiding principles that hold all the dances together:
- We dance without speaking and without shoes. This connects us more to the space and frees us from the limitations of spoken language.
- We are respectful of others boundaries and our own. We are family in this dance and safety and freedom of expression are of utmost importance. There are often people of all ages and abilities in the dance and we make space for it all.
- We participate in the dance with a clear mind. The dance is a drug and alcohol free space, and all are welcome.
Ecstatic Wave Records is not the best place to learn about the dance itself-there are many great resources online to learn about the international dances. If you are new to Ecstatic Dance, we welcome you to discover those resources-and more importantly find a dance in your local community.
About Ecstatic Wave Records:
Our commitment to the dance comes from years of facilitating and attending Ecstatic Dances. As musicians ourselves, we often hoped to both have an outlet for our own music that was specifically for the community as well as have a place where we-as facilitators-could come and discover new music that has already been curated and categorized based on the wave of the dance. That is our intention-to be not only a record label, but a space where Facilitators can easily find music that is the exact mood that they are looking for for their sacred dance.
